Florida Pushes Universities to Ease Transition

State leaders are looking to ensure that more students graduating from community colleges go on to a state university —and are well prepared when they get there.

About 55,000 students receive associate of arts degrees every year. About 35,000 of them apply to state universities, 30,000 are accepted but only 25,000 end up enrolling. Officials want to know what obstacles they may be facing that prevent them from going further.
