Private University Launching 2-Year College

After several initiatives designed to aggressively raise the profile of Marian University, the private liberal arts school announced Wednesday that it will launch a new two-year college next fall to reach a different population of students: those that might not get into Marian’s four-year programs.

University president Daniel Elsener said the university recognized the need for a different kind of two-year program than what’s currently available for central Indiana students who may not be interested in, qualified or ready for a four-year program. Too many students, he said, are either shut out of higher education or end up dropping out before earning any sort of meaningful degree or credential.
