Appalachian School for High-Risk Students Gets Funds

Southern Appalachian Labor School (SALS) has been re-funded by the U.S. Department of Labor to continue for three more years its successful program of training and educating at-risk youth.

The Southern Appalachian Labor School was the only program funded in West Virginia and one of 77 funded within the United States. YouthBuild is a recognized pre-apprenticeship program that helps at- risk youth complete high school or state equivalency degree programs, earn industry-recognized certifications for in-demand occupations, and undergo training to build housing for low-income or homeless individuals and families in their communities.
