AN EXPENSIVE VANISHING ACT: The City College of San Francisco can’t prove it taught more than 16,000 online students, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. CCSF is unable to verify that the students participated in 587 online classes, because it “bungled the way it tracked course participation.”
Although the students received grades in the courses, the college has no record of communication between students and instructors. An audit requested by the California Community College Chancellor’s Office blames instructors’ improper use of the school’s learning management system. (It uses Moodle.)
