Community College Enrollment Down 25% Nationally Since 2011, Census Bureau Estimates

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Enrollment at two-year colleges across the United States is down 25% from 2011, yet more students are attending graduate schools, according to estimates released Tuesday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Overall, 18.9 million students were in college in 2018, down from 20.4 million in 2011, the Census Bureau estimated. However, graduate school enrollment during the same time period increased by 300,000 to an estimated 4.1 million.
