Texas Colleges Brace for “Campus Carry” Law

Come Aug. 1, students, faculty and staff at community colleges in Texas will begin attending classes under the rules of Senate Bill 11, a law passed by the 84th Texas Legislature more than two years earlier allowing concealed handguns to be carried on college campuses.

While the bill went into effect for larger, four-year universities such as Texas Tech on Aug. 1, 2016, it does not go in effect for community colleges until Aug. 1 of this year.
