What Does Lane Community College Look Like in 2030? The Vision, Explained

Lane Community College has made significant progress in the way of programs since its founding in 1964 — but the same can’t be said about its facilities.

Bumping up against the sleek new $35 million center building opened three years ago are crumbling concrete staircases roped off from students, buildings lacking accessibility and structures overdue for earthquake reinforcement.

This disparity is why, following Board of Education approval this week, Lane Community College will ask for voter approval of a bond measure in May. If approved, the money would create momentum behind the college’s 10-year vision of a more sustainable and accessible campus that serves the middle-class workforce of the future.
