$2M Grant Will Smooth Transfers

The Foothill-De Anza Community College District and the University of San Francisco have received $2.15 million in grants from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to create a transfer program to help underserved students earn four-year degrees in the humanities.

The grants will begin next fall and support 70 Humanities Mellon Scholars at Foothill College and De Anza College by providing students with a two-year foundation in the humanities, resources to transfer to four-year college degree programs and support at USF. The grants will fund faculty mentoring, course materials two quarters of paid internships and several scholarships, among other things.
