Career Tech Leaders Back Ohio Education MergerMarch 15, 2018 |

Breaking with Ohio K-12 superintendents, the leaders of several Ohio career and technology centers offered support last week for a bill that would give the governor more direct control over the Ohio Department of Education.
The bill, which would merge the Education Department with the Department of Higher Education and the Office of Workforce Development, is a priority for the House speaker, and it is strongly backed by Gov. John Kasich — but by few education groups. Some privately question whether there is political back-scratching going on.
