Community Colleges: A Path To Create Wings To Further Educational Access and Opportunities

In 2014, I graduated from high school full of fear, doubt, uncertainty, and frustration.

As I reflect, I wonder why was I so angry. But now, it makes much more sense. In the process of applying to colleges, my support system was very weak. My parents never finished high school, so they did not push me to pursue any higher education. Many teachers throughout middle school and some in high school, believed I would fall victim to the streets, gangs, incarceration, or economic isolation, and become another statistic. I wasn’t sure myself.
