DACA Advocates Frustrated by Arizona Ruling

Hours after the Arizona Supreme Court ruled that students under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program are not entitled to in-state tuition, activists rallied at the state Capitol, saying the decision will discourage thousands from pursuing higher education.

“Years from now, I know we will be looking at history, asking ourselves ‘How did we allow this to happen? How did we allow our own government to discriminate against students?'” said Karina Ruiz, the president of the Arizona Dream Act Coalition, an advocacy group for DACA recipients, commonly known as “dreamers.”

“This is unacceptable and we need to do something about it,” she said.
