Economist Not Accurate in Criticism of Ivy Tech Community CollegeJanuary 17, 2019 |

Developing an economy “built to last” is hard work. It was just a decade ago that numerous Indiana counties hit double digit unemployment rates during the Great Recession. We applauded the Indiana Economic Development Corp. and the local developers in our communities who attracted new jobs, regardless of their pay. These jobs augmented those provided by hundreds of employers, large and small, committed to our Hoosier communities. Now Indiana is essentially at full employment with employers struggling to find employees at all skill levels. Ivy Tech Community College, the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, and Brooking’s Institute, agree that there is much work to be done to help Hoosiers “skill up” for the good jobs that are available, as well as those which companies will create as they compete and win in their own industries.
