Editorial: Don’t cut aid to state colleges

Over the past decade, the role played by Florida’s state college system has been radically redefined and expanded — mostly upward. As part of that rebranding, Central Florida Community College became the College of Central Florida and offers bachelor’s degrees in education, business, information technology, equine studies and nursing.

There’s plenty to laud about that transition. Florida’s state college system consistently rakes in big awards, with the best graduation rate of any state college system in the country. CF gathers its share of kudos, including being among the top 10 percent of community colleges in the country year in and year out.
