Freshman Football Player Dies after First Practice

An incoming Garden City Community College freshman football player died hours after the first day of practice.
The Garden City Telegram reports a teammate found 19-year-old Braeden Bradforth in his dorm Wednesday night in medical distress.
Bradforth was transported to St. Catherine Hospital where he died about two hours after he was found.

GCCC Head Football Coach Jeffrey Sims said doctors believe a blood clotting issued led Bradforth to have a heart attack.

“Originally, when it first happened, because of the time of the year and because of conditioning, we do have guys that will have cramps and have issues with the conditioning, that was our original thought what he may have been having,” said Sims. “But it was worse than that. It wasn’t related to those things.”
