Game-Changing Apprenticeships

On May 22-25, apprenticeship partners from across the state convened at the Michigan Educators Apprenticeship and Training Association Conference in Traverse City to show companies, workforce partners and others how apprenticeship is essential in training Michigan’s future workforce. The companies attending the event had the opportunity to learn more about apprenticeship and how it is a solution for finding and retaining talent.

One highlight of the MEATA Conference was the Apprenticeship in a Day (AiD) event, sponsored by the Advance Michigan Center for Apprenticeship Innovation. AiD is a coordinated activity of partners assisting employers with the development of registered apprenticeship programs that adhere to the Department of Labor’s required standards, all within a one-day workshop. During AiD, partners work directly with experts from the DOL, community colleges and Michigan Works! agencies to develop apprenticeship standards and have standards signed by the DOL.
