Harassment Investigator Resigns after Woman Accuses Him

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The man hired to investigate sexual harassment allegations at a Tennessee college resigned after a woman accused him of sexual harassment.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reported that John Patrick Shipwash resigned last year as executive director of equity and compliance at Pellissippi State Community College. Documents obtained by the newspaper show a woman told the Tennessee Board of Regents last year that Shipwash visited her off campus and spoke to her about his sexual experiences and preferences. She said Shipwash rubbed her back under her shirt and put his head on her stomach.

Shipwash told an investigator he had been drinking whiskey and could not remember everything that happened. Shipwash told the newspaper he was mortified but would not evade responsibility for what happened.
