Kentucky Community College System Breaks Record for Credentials Awarded

When the Kentucky Community and Technical College system moved to online instruction in March as the coronavirus hit the state, Jacqueline Jones had her concerns.

The co-president of the Black Student Union at Jefferson Community and Technical College worried her classes would turn to busy work and her professors, with whom she was used to having a one-on-one connection, would be out of touch. Then, there was the on-campus and off-campus work that accompanied her full class load to worry about.

Luckily, she was able to keep the same work schedule and settled into a new routine. And her professors were flexible and attentive, she said. Discussions turned into papers. Professors checked in with students.
