Map mentality: Cayuga Community College celebrates geographic systems programNovember 21, 2018 |

When Valerie Smith sees a map, she doesn’t just see a series of shapes and dots, but a world of information.
Smith was one of the Cayuga Community College students present for the college’s celebration of geographic information systems, which manipulate and present geographic and spatial data, on Nov. 14. The event took place on Geographic Information Systems Day, and was hosted by the GIS Club. The college’s GIS program was started by professor and club adviser Dr. Abu Badruddin about 18 years ago.
