Mitchell Community College’s student IDs might not count for voting

Mitchell Community College officials say it’s unclear whether the identification cards it issues to students will meet voting ID requirements under a proposed bill making its way through the N.C. General Assembly.

The bill, approved Thursday by the Senate and now headed to the House, would let voters use photo IDs issued by a state university, community college or private school. However, school’s IDs must meet state requirements.
