New Enrollments Barred for Houston Nursing Program

Low examination pass rates from Houston Community College’s vocational nursing graduates provoked state accreditors to block the school from enrolling new students to the program until scores improve.

The Texas Board of Nursing placed the vocational nursing program, which grants certificates, on “conditional” status at its April meeting because less than 80 percent of graduates passed the National Council Licensure Examination for practical nurses for three consecutive years.
