CLEVELAND, Ohio – A bachelor’s degree used to be the golden ticket to a rewarding job and good pay.

That pathway isn’t so clear anymore.

College is still a major way to career success, but after decades of a national push for “college for all,” graduates aren’t seeing an automatic return on their investment.

Here’s why: College is a lot more expensive than before. As many students are learning, loan debt can be crushing and hiring employers don’t always consider a degree a stamp of approval. And if a student is hired, the pay can vary significantly by type of degree.
