Probe of shooting at Mississippi community college continues

BOONEVILLE, Miss.— Authorities are investigating a shooting of a Northeast Mississippi Community College student who was jogging on campus last week.

A person of interest initially arrested in the shooting has been released without being charged in the case.
Booneville Police Chief Michael Ramey told The Daily Corinthian the student was shot August 25 in the leg with a .22 caliber pistol and was treated and released from an area hospital. A friend who was with him was not injured.
Ramey says a person of interest arrested shortly after the incident was released on bond for unrelated charges. No charges have been filed against anyone in connection with the shooting.

Ramey asked anyone who might have information on the case to contact the Booneville Police Department or campus police.
