A couple of years ago, free community college was a far-left Bernie Sanders pipe dream. But it’s an appealing idea.
It came up in Republican-ruled West Virginia, when Gov. Jim Justice, Senate President Mitch Carmichael and other legislators pushed “WV Invests,” a plan to allow qualified youths to attend the state’s two-year colleges at no cost to themselves. That plan passed the Senate but was not taken up by the House.
