R.I. Wants More Workers with Degrees

The commissioner of postsecondary education has announced a statewide initiative to dramatically increase the number of Rhode Islanders who have a college degree or some form of higher education.

Calling this effort a moral as well as an economic imperative, Brenda Dann-Messier, Rhode Island’s commissioner of postsecondary education, said her office, working with the state’s three public colleges, business leaders and students, will come up with a detailed plan for increasing post-high school attainment.
