CHARLESTON — West Virginia’s chancellor of community and technical colleges said she is concerned sanctions imposed following a missed deadline for the state audit could affect institutions’ abilities to quickly implement programs.
Sarah Tucker told members of the Joint Standing Committee on Education in their Tuesday meeting that sanctions imposed earlier by the U.S. Department of Education are twofold — financial and program authority. She said sanctions could limit community and technical colleges’ ability to respond to workforce needs immediately.
